The Orchard
The Orchard is a recent addition to the property. It is situated close to the site of the original orchard of the Vanderbilts,
now long gone. The orchard features peaches, apples, plums, pears, Asian pears, and berries of various types.
This home orchard includes many heirloom varieties as well as modern hybrids and is designed to offer fruit over a long harvest season. Most varieties are selected for their flavor, above other considerations. The orchard is not organic, as we don't have the time to sustain that, but is low spray. We use the minimum spraying necessary to deliver the crop.
